Private Chef | Woodside, CA

A family in Woodside, CA is seeking an excellent Private Chef to prepare weekday meals for a family of four (two adults and two children under 5). No private chef experience required and recent industry experience at a high level - Chef de Cuisine or Executive Chef - strongly preferred. Dinners only, competitive salary, full healthcare benefits. For Executive Chefs with prior Michelin or James Beard recognition, 250k salary negotiable.

Prefer candidates who are currently in Northern California or have spent significant time here and have relationships with local producers. Must be a non-smoker, able to pass an in-depth background check, and provide excellent professional references.

Position Overview

The family prioritizes flavorful, ingredient-driven, fresh food. The ideal chef is someone who is comfortable cooking an extensive range of cuisines (Mediterranean, Mexican, Japanese, etc.), creative and passionate about food, and has deep experience in every aspect of food creation, from pickling to pasta making to menu creation. Some household members are vegetarian and chef should be familiar with cooking protein-rich vegetarian cuisine.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve weekday dinners
• Create varied, creative menus for each week that cover a variety of cuisines
• Provide healthy snacks and fresh fruits for the home
• Cook with fresh, whole ingredients 
• Incorporate vegetable-heavy, high-protein dishes
• Prepare meals for occasional small events or gatherings
• Maintain a well-organized kitchen and handle all grocery purchasing
• Work independently and communicate clearly about preferences and scheduling

Schedule

• Five days per week; Monday through Friday
• Chef prepares dinner for the day, serves, does final clean, then departs. Dinner service is at 5:45pm. 
• Some weekend days required (<1x/month) if family is hosting a dinner on the weekend 

Compensation & Benefits

• $200k-250k Depending on Experience 
• Paid vacation and paid sick leave
