Position Description
The Nutrition and Global Health Program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with expertise and interest in global health and nutrition across the life cycle, with an emphasis on children and adolescents. Our team has established partnerships in sub-Saharan Africa and in the Middle East and North Africa regions. The research fellow will participate in food and nutrition-related projects and contribute to broader global health research in related domains of climate change, sexual and reproductive health, perinatal health, and mental health. Research activities may include conducting systematic reviews, prospective cohort studies, and intervention studies in collaboration with institutional partners in Africa and Asia, as well as with European partners, including at Heidelberg University. This position offers an excellent opportunity to strengthen skills in primary data collection, advanced statistical analysis, evidence synthesis, proposal development, and scientific writing. The research fellow will work closely with Prof. Wafaie Fawzi, Harvard faculty, and other team members at Harvard and partner institutions.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
· Lead systematic reviews of the literature and analyses of data examining adolescent health and nutrition.
· Plan and contribute to field operations for implementation, data management, and oversight of studies.
· Analyze datasets to examine research questions and contribute to the development of peer-reviewed publications. First-author and co-author abstracts, poster presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
· Communicate with research partners on study progress, challenges, and regulatory matters.
· Contribute to the communication of program findings to general audiences.
· Contribute to the development of funder technical reports and new grant proposals.
· Support training activities of fellow researchers at partner institutions.
· Perform additional related duties as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD/doctoral degree in epidemiology, nutrition, global health, or a related field of public health. Candidates should also have the following:
Strong skills in quantitative methods and data analysis software, writing skills
Research experience in related areas
Demonstrated ability to work independently, under supervision, and as part of a team.
Additional Qualifications
Two or more years of research or project management skills, and technical expertise in the conduct of research studies.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, excellent time management, a goal-oriented and detail-oriented work style, and meticulous and consistent follow-through on projects are required.
Experience liaising with Institutional Review Boards, other regulatory bodies, and academic and governmental institutions preferred.
Ability to commit to an 18-month hybrid role based in Boston, with several days in the Boston office in addition to virtual workdays to align with the team's schedule.
