Grade 2 (Hourly) Position Description: The Library Assistant I has a primary responsibility to provide library services to patrons at the Health Sciences Kornhauser Library public service desk. The assistant will interact directly with patrons and aid in accessing research databases and online information tools. This position will also manage inquiries at the public service desk via email and telephone, issue library cards, instruct in-person patrons in the use of computers, scanners, and photocopiers, and ensure library equipment is in proper working order. This position also has the responsibility to keep accurate patron records, train and assist 6 to 8 student assistants and provide interlibrary loan services. This position will work Tuesday through Friday from 10am – 6pm, rotating Saturdays 9:45am – 6pm, and may require working occasional late evenings.
