Job Description TASK FORCE: Policy and Operations Research UNIT: Data Analytics & Management JOB TITLE: One (1) Summer Intern CONTROL CODE: POR Intern-26-03 Summary The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities. Within the Management and Operations Division of OMB, the Policy and Operations Research Task Force is primarily responsible for analyzing fiscal and economic impacts of the City’s policy initiatives and evaluating City agencies’ operations and programs, as well as conducting ad-hoc quantitative analysis. The Data & Analytics Unit conducts data-intensive work to facilitate these tasks & modernize data workflows for other task forces at the agency. Primary responsibilities of the unit include building and maintaining an automated cloud pipeline that can collect, process and reflect budget-related data. The team works with units across the agency to identify technological solutions to improve data collection, processing and visualization. Job Description The Data Analyst & Engineer intern will analyze complex data and become proficient in collecting, cleaning, and visualizing data to identify patterns, trends, and correlations. Responsibilities will include assisting OMB staff in building a data pipeline and working with cloud computing frameworks and platforms. As part of this workstream, the intern will collaborate with teams across functional areas to automate processing of data within cloud computing platform. Additionally, the intern will assist with preprocessing of structured and unstructured data, present information using data visualization techniques, and perform quality assurance testing on datasets and coding files. and assist in developing actionable recommendations to ensure the financial sustainability of services QualificationsA cover letter is required to be considered for this position. Additionally, candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, graduate students must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program. Compensation/Duration Summer Graduate Intern $20 per hour Internships will run for 10 weeks, from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026. The work must be done during the regular workday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – no evenings or weekends.
